In 1991 the band oasis started in Manchester. They were first called the rain and they were formed by paul arthers, paul mcguigan and tony mccarroll with chris hutton as the singer. Paul Arthurs recruited Liam Gallagher as the new vocalist. Liam suggested the name "Oasis“. This was after he saw a tour poster that listed the Oasis Leisure Centre as a venue. After over a year of live shows, rehearsals and a recording of a demo, the Live Demonstration tape, in May 1993, Oasis were spotted by the Creation Records co-owner Alan McGee.
